Profile of North Sumatra Province

North Sumatra Province located at 1 ° - 4 ° North latitude and 98 ° - 100 ° east longitude , which in 2004 had 18 districts and 7 cities , and consists of 328 sub-districts , the overall North Sumatra province has 5,086 villages and 382 wards.
A land area of ​​71,680 km of North Sumatra Province 2 , North Sumatra widely famous for its plantations , until now , continues to be the belle of the plantation economy of the province . The plantation is managed by private companies or the state . North Sumatra produces rubber , cocoa , tea , palm oil , coffee , cloves , coconut , cinnamon , and tobacco . These commodities have been exported to many foreign countries and contributed greatly to Indonesia .In addition to the commodities , North Sumatra is also known as a producer of horticultural commodities ( vegetables and fruits ) ; eg Orange Medan , Deli Cashew , Vegetable Cabbage , Tomato , Potato , and Carrot generated by Karo , Simelungun and North Tapanuli . The horticultural products have been exported to Malaysia and Singapore .

North Sumatra is a province which is the fourth largest population in Indonesia after West Java , East Java and Central Java . Labor Force Participation Rate ( LFPR ) of North Sumatra seems to fluctuate each year . In 2000 . LFPR in this area amounted to 57.34 percent in 2001 rose to 57.70 percent in 2002 rose again to 69.45 percent .
